Wiley and the International Society of Automation (ISA) have reported a co-publishing association plan to broaden entry to ISA technical and educational publishing contents worldwide.
ISA indicated that it chose Wiley because it seeks to serve the automation community and its over 18,000 members all over the globe. The collaboration will bring together the technical skills and the publishing catalogue of ISA and the editorial skills and worldwide distribution network of Wiley.
As part of the deal Wiley will assume the backlist of approximately 70 books of ISA and is also intending to publish five new books in this year. This contains an updated version of A Guide to the Automation Body of Knowledge, Fourth Edition, of ISA. To further engage in the process of acquiring and developing of new titles, the two organisations will work together, with an aim of publishing between five and eight books every year in accordance with the technical focus areas set by ISA.
Both of them commented that the alliance will enable the content of ISA to contact a broader customer base of automation professionals with the help of the increased number of distribution channels, the enhanced discoverability and selling network of Wiley. Wiley, in its turn, reported that the partnership helps it to achieve its strategic growth in industrial automation publishing.
According to Rick Zabel, the managing director of the ISA publications and Automation.com, his organization is able to reach a great number more people with its educational content through this partnership with Wiley as the automation of industries in every corner of the world begins to take hold. He said that ISA would not have lost editorial independence and technical standards.
Wileys group vice president of Advanced Content, Amanda Miller claimed that the partnership shows how specialised technical societies can expand their publishing initiatives without losing their editorial purpose.
On the same note, ISA added that it has also recently identified eight persons promoted to the grade of ISA Fellow in 2026 due to their long-term contributions to the automation field.
